About Resurgence
Resurgence is an award-winning, non-profit social enterprise specialising in urban climate risk, communication, and resilience across the Global South. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, we operate across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. For over a decade, we have transformed how vulnerable populations access and act on weather and climate information — working with governments, meteorological agencies, Red Cross societies, and community organisations to translate complex forecasts into clear, actionable early warnings for floods, heatwaves, droughts, and sand storms. Our donors and partners are blue chip and include the Lloyds Register Foundation, UK FCDO, the Met Office WISER Programme, and the World Food Programme (WFP) with whom we have a new global partnership.
Resurgence is entering an ambitious new phase of growth, with a vision to ensure that up to one billion people benefit from life-saving early warning information and actionable climate intelligence. We are seeking exceptional leaders who share our commitment to inclusive climate resilience.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a senior leader with strong expertise in finance, strategy, and organisational scaling to join our Board. This role is suited to someone who has helped grow and professionalise a non-profit, social enterprise, or mission-driven organisation through a period of expansion, funding diversification, and institutional maturation.
The successful candidate will bring both financial fluency and strategic insight — supporting the executive team in building a resilient operating model, strengthening financial sustainability, and navigating scale responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight on financial sustainability and multi-year planning.
- Advise on organisational growth strategy, including geographic expansion and programme scaling.
- Support development of diversified funding models (philanthropy, institutional grants, blended capital).
- Guide scenario planning, risk assessment and financial modelling during scale phases.
- Contribute to strengthening governance maturity and board-level strategic discipline.
- Act as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team during key inflection points.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Senior experience in finance, strategy, consulting, investment, or development finance.
- Lived or substantial professional experience in the Global South, ideally in climate-vulnerable or international development contexts.
- Track record of helping scale a non-profit, social enterprise, or mission-driven organisation.
- Strong financial acumen, with ability to interpret budgets and growth models.
- Experience navigating organisational growth, funding diversification, and institutional partnerships.
- Strategic mindset with ability to balance ambition and operational realism.
- High integrity and commitment to climate resilience and community-led impact.
- Preference will be given to UK-based candidates to support effective governance and occasional in-person engagement; however, exceptional candidates from other geographies will also be considered.
Time Commitment
- Quarterly Board meetings (approx. 2 hours each).
- Preparation and advisory engagement as required (approx. a few hours per quarter).
