Resurgence is a UK-based international non-profit that develops climate risk, resilience, and multi-hazard early warning services. Clients and partners include the UK Met Office/FCDO, IDB, World Bank GFDRR, Red Cross Climate Centre, UNDRR, and Lloyd’s Register Foundation.
Programme Overview:
DARAJA, a flagship initiative of Resurgence, bridges the gap between weather information providers and users, helping people act on forecasts to improve climate resilience. Launched in 2018 under the UK Met Office’s WISER 2 programme in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam. It has since expanded to five cities in East Africa and MENA, operated at national scale in Sudan, and has won five international awards. It is now expanding to South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Position Overview:
The Project Coordinator will support the daily planning, coordination, and implementation of the first DARAJA project targeting communities in urban informal settlements across three countries in Asia. Working closely with the UK based Project Manager, you will help ensure activities are delivered on time, within scope, and to high quality standards. The role involves liaising with partners, tracking progress, managing documentation, and coordinating key project tasks such as research, workshops, and reporting. This is a remote position based in India, with occasional field visits required.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Implementation
o Support the Project Manager in planning and executing project activities across all three countries.
o Maintain and update detailed project work plans, timelines, and task trackers.
o Coordinate logistics for workshops and stakeholder meetings.
o Ensure project activities align with agreed objectives, timelines, and donor requirements.
o Assist in integrating climate adaptation and resilience best practices into project activities.
Partner & Stakeholder Coordination
o Serve as a key liaison between Resurgence and in-country partners, facilitating regular communication and updates.
o Build relationships to ensure successful delivery and engagement.
o Support partners in organising community engagement activities.
o Help prepare agendas, notes, and follow-ups for meetings with partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
o Collaborate closely with Resurgence’s communications, finance and M&E teams to ensure smooth information flow.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting
o Collaborate with the M&E team, ensuring performance indicators are tracked and reported.
o Maintain up-to-date project documentation and activity records.
o Prepare progress reports for internal teams, donors, and stakeholders.
o Identify and manage risks, proposing mitigation strategies as needed.
Financial & Administrative Support
o Assist with tracking project expenditures in coordination with the Finance and Admin team.
o Support procurement and contracting processes for consultants or service providers.
o Help prepare financial documentation and ensure compliance with donor and internal policies.
Risk & Issue Management
o Identify coordination or delivery challenges and escalate them promptly to the Project Manager.
o Support the team in adapting activities in response to changing field conditions or partner needs.
o Contribute to maintaining a risk and issue log and implementing mitigation actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, climate change, urban design / development or non profit project management.
- 3–5 years of experience supporting the delivery of multi-country or multi-partner development or climate-related projects.
- Knowledge of climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction and sustainable development.
- Interest in the climate vulnerability of urban populations.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills, with attention to detail and deadlines.
- Financial management experience preferred.
- Experience with international donors or government-funded projects is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in regional languages is an advantage.
- Adaptability to work with a team spread across UK, South Asia and SE Asia time zones.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Notion, Asana, MS Project).
- Willingness to travel for field visits within the region.
